Sam is an award-winning filmmaker and writer whose acclaimed work explores the intersections of gender, sexuality, and queer identity, with screenings at festivals such as Slamdance, Outfest, and Frameline. As a Development Executive with Arcadia in Australia (Sissy, While The Men Are Away) and in Marketing, Acquisitions, and Distribution with Participant in Los Angeles (Spotlight, Roma, An Inconvenient Truth), Sam contributed to critically acclaimed projects from development to distribution. Most recently, Sam wrote Episode 6 of While The Men Are Away (SBS) and completed a Screen NSW-supported Director’s Attachment on all eight episodes of the series.In 2020, Sam co-wrote and directed the digital comedy Apricot, which screened at Slamdance, Outfest, and the Nashville Film Festival. They also adapted and directed The Moth, a short film based on SJ Norman’s award-winning book Permafrost. Sam has worked in Indonesia, Berlin, and Los Angeles and holds an MFA in Directing from UCLA’s School of Theater, Film, and Television.
